September 8, 2017 College Celebrates New Faculty Appointments

Maged Guerguis, Alyssa Kuhns, Andrew Madl, Marshall Prado

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ celebrates a strengthened era of innovation by announcing the appointment of four distinguished faculty members who champion the college’s legacy of exploration in design education. All new faculty members joined the college in Fall 2017:

Maged Guerguis, Assistant Professor, Architecture

Guerguis is formerly Senior Designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and SOM Foundation Design Research Fellow. Guerguis conducts interdisplinary research to discover innovative solutions to challenges grounded in both architecture and science. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Helwan University in Cairo, Egypt, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Alyssa Kuhns, Fellow, Interior Architecture

Kuhns is a registered architect. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute. Kuhns was a design/build project manager in the Pittsburgh area and an adjunct professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Her work centers around the intersection of building products, materials and spatial experience.

Andrew Madl, Adjunct Assistant Professor, Landscape Architecture

Madl received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard University. In his work, Madl focuses on environmental substainability and urban design. Recently, he completed drafting and 3D modeling work for Stephen Stimson Associates in Massachussets.

Marshall A. Prado, Assistant Professor, Architecture

Prado holds degrees from North Carolina State University and Harvard University and brings to his new role an expertise in robotics and fibrous structures. Prado has been published extensively worldwide and has received numerous awards for his work and research, including Harvard University’s Digital Design Prize and the Michigan AIA Award.
