December 2, 2019College to Host Annual Career Day for All Students in 2020
Students, we’re here to fully prepare you to succeed and to provide the opportunity to make genuine and lasting connections in the design community. Through our annual Career Day, employers from across the nation pay for the privilege to meet you.Â
Career Day, February 28, 2020, is a day-long event for all students in our college to interact with design professionals by discussing jobs, internships and career advice for preparing for the future.
Career Day is for all students, from first-year students seeking more information about the job market and application process to fifth-year students searching for their first jobs after college to graduate students seeking the next steps in their careers. Career Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Union ballroom, 1502 Cumberland Ave.Â
In 2019, we hosted more than 70 employers including Gensler, McCarty Holsaple McCarty, BarberMcMurry Architects, HBG Design, Hastings Architecture Associates, Lose & Associates, Inc. and many others. These firms represented 11 states, from cities including Knoxville, Atlanta, New York, Memphis and more.
Current students can prepare for Career Day through workshops our college hosts to connect, impress and get hired. These workshops, led by faculty and our Center for Student Development, include portfolio reviews, resume and cover letter feedback sessions and mock interviews.
Career Day does not require appointments to participate; however, students who upload their resumes, cover letters and design sheets prior to the event are eligible to have employers review their work prior to Career Day and schedule interviews.
