Amanda Loper, is principal of David Baker Architects DBA_BHM in Birmingham, Alabama. She will present “Livable Density: How to Make Housing for People,” which will explore DBA’s design approach while sharing projects across multiple scales. In various geographical locations, DBA works to revitalize neighborhoods, foster communities, and create equitable, thriving environments with projects that range from small-scale urban interventions to large-scale city blocks.
Get to know Amanda Loper
As principal, Loper focuses on the big-picture in architecture: the potential of sites to be transformed into unique, human-scaled, built environments. She established and leads DBA_BHM, the southeastern office in Birmingham, Alabama. Loper joined the firm in 2006 and was made principal in 2014. Her diverse experience includes affordable housing, market-rate housing, commercial buildings, and policy studies. She frequently writes and presents on aspects of urban design and she works to bring social awareness to issues of housing and density within the urban setting.
The lecture is funded by the Robert B. Church Memorial Lecture Fund. It is free and open to the public, and visitors are asked to follow . We strongly encourage visitors and our college community to wear masks.
