Kimberly Mitchell, MFA

Kimberly Mitchell is a tenure track Assistant Professor in the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is an experienced designer and an accomplished researcher who has presented her research both nationally and internationally at conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Prior to her arrival at UTK, she was a tenured Associate Professor of Visual Communication at Northern Arizona University.

Her multidisciplinary research focuses on the social impact of design, and how by creating awareness, a designer can improve a community’s quality of life. Her work bridges design and gerontology. Her most recent project involves designing an AI robot interface as a conversational partner and monitor in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
